Accessories and comments
Some cars impress because of their condition. Others because of their history. This Mercedes-Benz 300 SE offers both in an exceptional way. On December 20th, 1988, this Mercedes-Benz 300 SE was first registered to Fahrzeugwerke LUEG GmbH in Essen, official Mercedes-Benz dealer, where it covered its first kilometers as a “Vorführfahrzeug”. On February 20th, 1990, the car was sold to Maria Antonia Döhler (1924), owner of a hotel on Norderney, while personally residing in Gladbeck in Germany’s Ruhr region. The original purchase invoice is still present and shows a delivery price of DM 67,500. This document also confirms that Mrs. Döhler acquired the car with just 3,093 kilometers.
The exceptionally well-preserved and fully documented history is supported by the complete original book pack, service booklet, maintenance invoices, several TÜV inspection reports and the original purchase documentation. As the Germans would say, the mileage is entirely “lückenlos nachvollziehbar.”
Documented mileage history:
28-02-1989 1.168 Km.
21-02-1990 3.093 Km.
06-04-1990 8.776 Km.
04-10-1990 20.811 Km.
16-05-1991 34.745 Km.
03-08-1992 40.438 Km.
27-12-1994 49.566 Km.
24-02-1998 59.382 Km.
12-09-2013 73.162 Km.
07-11-2017 73.313 Km.
24-02-2020 73.478 Km.
19-09-2025 74.128 Km.
Following Mrs. Döhler’s passing, the car was acquired by Herbert Küpper GmbH, official Mercedes-Benz partner in Dorsten. On February 24th, 2020, it was sold to a collector. The original warranty certificate from this sale is present and records a mileage of 73,478 kilometres. The collector never registered the car in his own name and used it only occasionally under a transferable registration plate. Today, the odometer reads 74,806 kilometers.
With the exception of one front wing, the body remains in its first paint, something that is also confirmed by a recent appraisal report, which is included with the car. It was originally delivered in Astralsilber metallic (735) with blue velour interior (972) — a timeless and particularly elegant Mercedes-Benz colour combination. The interior reflects the same level of care. Even the driver’s seat bolster and the velour trim around the door openings show no signs of wear. Mechanically, the car has recently been fully inspected and serviced, including four new tyres, replacement of all brake hoses and new rear shock absorbers.
We chose to equip the car with the desirable Mercedes-Benz „Gullideckel“ alloy wheels, while the original steel wheels with hubcaps are, of course, included. Factory options include:
240 Outside temperature display
280 Leather steering wheel and gear selector
412 Electric sliding/tilting sunroof
420 Automatic transmission
430 Rear headrests
506 Right exterior mirror
518 Radio system
531 Automatic antenna
543 Illuminated vanity mirrors
570 Front centre armrest
590 Heat-insulating glass
620 Catalytic converter
812 Rear speakers
In our view, one of the most desirable W126 configurations: the elegant second series, combined with the reliable 3.0-litre inline-six, supported by a fully traceable history and a level of preservation that perfectly matches its mileage.
