Mercedes-Benz 230 C, a remarkably original and exceptionally well-preserved example, originally delivered to Mr. Kraus from Waltrop (Germany). At the time of ordering, Mr. Kraus selected only two options: an electric sliding sunroof and radio suppression; a Philips radio cassette player was installed later on. On October 4th, 1978, he personally took delivery of the car at the factory in Sindelfingen as a Werksauslieferung. Since 1988, the car was owned by its second owner, Mrs. Neumann from Hagen (Germany). It was taken off the road on July 31st, 1995, after which it remained in long-term garage storage until 2025.
The car still retains its original paint. The roof and the upper sections of the rear wings show a higher paint thickness, as we have consistently observed on other W123 Coupé examples. The paint shows only minimal, barely noticeable signs of use. The interior can be described as immaculate. Dashboard and wood trim are in excellent condition and virtually free from damage. The body is entirely free from rust and accident damage and displays excellent panel fit. The lower front valance (stone guard) has been refinished by us in the correct texture and colour. We acquired the car from a Mercedes employee who had obtained it after its long period of storage. The undercarriage and chassis had already been cleaned by means of dry ice blasting.
In order to return the car to a reliable driving condition, significant investment has been made. The braking system and carburetor were overhauled, the fuel tank cleaned, and various suspension components, engine mounts and the driveshaft flex disc replaced. Four new Vredestein Classic tyres have been fitted and all fluids and filters renewed. The original folder with all booklets is present, as well as the data card. Little is known about the service history. An oil service card from 1990 is included, showing a mileage of 50,600 km, five years prior to the car being taken off the road in 1995.
A two-owner 230 C that was effectively in use for only seventeen years.
