Raised in the back seat of various Mercedes R/C 107 Roadsters and Coupe’s, these models are one of my favorite classics. Especially the early models without “Gummi Lippe” or front spoiler appeal to my imagination. Many examples have passed my hands in the meantime, the critical places of these models are certainly known. Conditionally, this one exceeds almost every expectation. All screws, bolts, brackets or clamps, all building elements wherever you look are in almost unseen, untouched “factory new” condition. The presence of the manufacturing stamps on the left and right side on the engine, the as new exhaust manifold and many marks are admirable.
A 450SL newly delivered in the USA in the possession of the first lady owner until 2017. “Gehegt und Geflegt” also by the second owner, a well-known Californian collector, and with only real 33.462 Km on the odometer, a true rarity. With the exception of the right A-pillar in factory paint, immaculate MB-Tex interior and first soft-top with crystal-clear windows. A description of the condition of the engine- and trunk compartment with unused spare wheel, as well as the undercarriage and chassis is completely unnecessary, the photos speak for themselves. Not visible, but worth noting is that the rubber boot mat, normally dried out and broken, feels as smooth as if it was made yesterday. Even the boot rubber is still decorated with the factory stamp. After 48 years it is noticeable that there are a few minimal paint damages and that the color has faded slightly when the hard-top has been dismantled. Under the hard-top the color is slightly darker. In our extensive photo report, photos 127 to 133 provide a good picture.
