First-owner Volkswagen Golf II GTI in remarkably original condition with only 42,735 kilometres. Supplied new on 20 September 1990 by Volkswagen dealer F.lli Antonelli in Pesaro (I) to Signor Leonardo Cesaroni.
Over the past 35 years, this Golf has escaped the modifications that most Golf II GTIs have undergone. Apart from the installation of a Blaupunkt radio with USB connectivity, no alterations have been made. The suspension, steel wheels and all other details remain in their original specification. A rarity among Golf II GTIs of this generation.
The interior remains in near-immaculate, completely original condition and clearly reflects the exceptional care this Golf has received from new. When we acquired the car, it was still entirely in its original paint. The right rear door had sustained a minor parking dent with paint damage. For that reason, only the central sections of the two right-hand doors were professionally repainted to ensure a perfect colour transition. The remainder of the paintwork is entirely original and shows only minimal signs of use.
The body is in an exceptionally rust-free condition. The underside, chassis and suspension are still generously protected by the original factory-applied wax. The detailed photographs of the doors, sills and engine bay clearly show that the car received a transparent anti-rust wax treatment from new. The underside further confirms that this Golf has never been driven in winter conditions or on salt-treated roads.
Mechanically, the Golf has been comprehensively serviced. The shock absorbers, front strut top mounts, timing belt, water pump, brake hoses and brake master cylinder have all been replaced. In addition, the brake calipers have been overhauled. The result is a Volkswagen Golf GTI that once again delivers the tight, precise driving experience for which these cars are renowned.
First owner, accident-free, exceptionally original and with only 42,735 kilometres. An irreplaceable example.
