In the autumn of 1996, Jaguar introduced its new Gran Turismo, the XK8 Coupé — a highly elegant model featuring styling elements inspired by the legendary E-Type. Our example, finished in a tasteful and rare colour combination, was originally delivered new by Royal Motors Kempen in Cologne (Germany) to Mr Wüst. Copies of the original order form dated 09-10-1996, as well as the purchase invoice showing the original list price of DM 118,820, are present.

Mr Wüst made very limited use of the XK8 and traded the car back to Royal Motors Kempen in June 2003. Shortly thereafter, in September 2003, the vehicle was sold to its second owner, the life insurance company Gruel of Essen, with a mileage of just 12,512 km. Mr Gruel deregistered the car soon afterwards, on 16-12-2003 to be precise. In May 2004, the Jaguar was recovered due to a defective battery; the final journey was undertaken by Mr Gruel using short-term registration plates (Kurzkennzeichen).

After a period of more than nine years in storage, the Jaguar found its way to the Netherlands, where we acquired it from an enthusiast/collector in the summer of 2023. In November 2023, we sold the Jaguar to a German collector. During his ownership, the XK8 was used extremely sparingly and covered just over 3,000 kilometres. Due to a recent downsizing of his collection, we were able to reacquire the Coupé, meaning this remarkable Jaguar is once again part of our offering.

To this day, the Coupé remains in an exceptional and highly original condition. The original tyres, further emphasising the low mileage, are still fitted. The paintwork is entirely original and virtually free of damage. A minor paint blemish on the left door was touched up with a paint pen; a very slight trace of a possible external fluid can be observed on the right rear quarter panel. The complete interior, including the burr walnut wood veneers, is exactly as one would expect from a car with this mileage — immaculate. The suspension and chassis, extensively shown in our photographic documentation, are free from oxidation.

In November 2023, at a mileage of 17,870 km, the timing chains and chain tensioners were replaced with the improved specification — a well-known and important point of attention for this type of Jaguar XK8.
