We recently had the opportunity to purchase this unique 505 Familiale GR from its first German owner, Herr Willy Gerats, born on 17-11-1934. Herr Gerats, the owner of Peugeot-Talbot dealer “Willy’s Garage” in Kevelaer, ordered this 505 for himself, as also confirmed by the original Fahrzeugbrief (vehicle registration document). According to his son, he was the only driver of the car. His son also mentioned that service was of the utmost importance at Willy’s Garage and that no new car ever left the showroom without a thorough anti-rust treatment. This was also the case for his own car, which has been meticulously protected in every detail.
Naturally, it has been perfectly maintained, still in its original factory paint without any significant signs of use, and with an absolutely rust-free body. The tweed interior is in immaculate condition. As optional extras, Herr Gerats had a Blaupunkt Essen R26 radio/cassette, a manually operated sunroof, and a tow bar installed. It is still equipped with the original factory-fitted Michelin tires, which, despite being over 41 years old, recently passed the German TÜV inspection with flying colors. Of course, we can replace them before delivery if desired. We have just had the fuel tank and carburetor cleaned, the brake hoses and master brake cylinder have been replaced as a precaution, the brake calipers have been overhauled, and a major service has been carried out.
The folder containing all booklets, several TÜV inspection certificates, the fiches listing all parts, as well as the folder with sales brochures, color charts, price lists, and even the transport document from France to Kevelaer, is all still present in its original form.
A truly irreplaceable example, a genuine survivor in an exceptional condition.
